I don't know about yall but as soon as the chill hits the air and I start to see all the fall colors, I immediately want to decorate for fall. This year I was really wanting a wreath for the door. During Christmas, I can't part with my real evergreen wreath but for thanksgiving I thought I might try my hand at making something. I had seen some pictures online and came across a 'ribbon wreath'. So, I ventured out to Michaels and gathered all my materials.
#1 Mod Podge. Make sure you have this on hand to do your letter. I chose a goldish yellow sheet of scrapbook paper to glue on to my "H" for the wreath.
Here is how my "H" looked pre-scrapbook paper. I used an exacto knife to trace and then slapped some mod podge on to adhere to the letter.
#2 Several spools of ribbon and a wire wreath form. I chose 4 colors of ribbon and then burlap for some texture. Michaels was sadly completely out of fall ribbon but I searched around for some fall colors in the ribbon section and found a great green, burnt orange, brown and leopard print. I threw the burlap in there as a filler. The ribbon spools were 1.5 " wide and I cut them into 18" strips. I think you could actually do 15" and get more out of your spools. Then I tied the ribbon around the wire wreath that I also picked up at Michaels. Just double knot the ribbon all the way around spacing out all of the colors.
Almost there! I would suggest using at least 4 spools because it takes a bunch to make it look nice and full. The burlap helps in giving it some fullness.
And Voila! Here is the final product hanging on the door. So cute! You can do so much with picking different colors and themes as well as decorating your initial with great patterns. (I actually think it looks better in person because the burlap photographs funny :)
