charleston weekend

The husband and I have been doing a lot of traveling but we were definitely excited about traveling this weekend.  I gave K tickets to see the Avett bros in Charleston for his 30th birthday and the show was this past weekend.  I managed to score floor tickets, 10 or so rows back so he was a happy camper.  Since we knew we were going down for the concert on Sunday night (boo for driving back until almost 1:45 sunday night) we decided to make a little trip out of it for valentines day!

Saturday morning, I got up and did my distance run for the weekend and then got packed for the night.  We had to board miss ellie may since we wouldn't be going anywhere she could go.  We ended up getting to Charleston that afternoon and checked into our hotel.  We stayed at The Lodge Alley Inn downtown and it turned out being great!  We actually bid on it on priceline and were pleasantly surprised.  It had a little kitchen, living room, dining room and bedroom with all the charleston charm I was hoping for.  We would definitely stay here again.

For saturday night, we made reservations at Magnolia's right near the hotel.  This did not disappoint either.  I got the parmesan crusted flounder with crab meat and Kyle got fried chicken with collards, potatoes, and corn.  Those sound like your run of the mill southern sides but these were the best I had ever put in my mouth!  We finished it off with chocolate raspberry creme brulee that was ah.mazing.

Sunday night we got to see the avett brothers! The concert was a blast and of course we always enjoy our time in Charleston!
